Grassroots Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob attended the Bukit Batok East CDC/CCC Bursary (Scholarship, University, Poly, ITE) presentation with some 269 students and family on Tuesday, 24 July 2012 at Bukit Batok East CC Hall. She congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged all the recipients to apply the same efforts and commitment in their academic pursuits and look forward to seeing them at the presentation next year

BBE Flea Market Lucky Draw Result



The much-awaited flea market lucky draw was conducted at 3pm at BBE CC front foyer. Residents who made purchases or visit the Flea market held on 21 and 22 July was given a lucky draw survey form. Purpose is to understand the kind of activities that residents are interested in so that our SCEC can organise accordingly to suit their interests.

There were 2 bicycles and 5 fans to be given away. The winners are:

Bukit Batok East Family Life Champion (FLC) Won GOLD And SILVER At PA's FLC Awards Presentation 2012 - 28 July 2012 Saturday




Congratulations to our Bukit Batok East Family Life Champion (FLC) for a work well done for year 2011. The leader of the BBE FLC Mr Leslie Lee received the SILVER award(Parenting Event) from Chief Executive Director for the People's Association, Mr Yam Ah Mee & GOLD award for Outstanding Interest Group from Mr Alex Yam, Grassroot's Adviser for Chua Chu Kang GRC during the Award Presentation held on 28 July 2012 at Hotel Re!.

It was a homerun for BBE, filled with joy and happiness as all the hard work and efforts of our volunteers were acknowledged and rewarded. Once again, BBE FLC would like to thank all FLC Members, FLC Connector /volunteers and residents for their support and hope that they would continue to give us their support.

BBE Private Estate Celebrated Our 47th National Day



On 27 July afternoon, residents from Burgundy estate helped out to decorate the Burgundy Park for our 47th National Day.

The residents were very happy to play a part in decorating the park. They shared ideas and are very innovative with the decorations.

The residents are also very glad to know more neighbours in the estate. They look forward to spending the National Day with their family in the well-decorated park.

Pesta Bahasa 2012 - 7 July 2012 Saturday




On 7th July 2012, Bukit Batok East Malay Activity Executive Committee (MAEC) and Lianhua Primary School jointly organised Pesta Bahasa 2012. Already into its fifth year running, the event for 2012 was held at Bukit Batok East CC and the guest-of-honour was Mdm Halimah Yacob, Adviser to Bukit Batok East Grassroots Organisation (GROs).

As Pesta Bahasa 2012 is part of Bulan Bahasa 2012, a month long campaign whereby cultural values of the Malay Language is being greatly emphasized for the Malay Community in Singapore, this eventful occasion saw a total of 10 primary schools being involved with approximately 450 school students either taking part or rooting for their fellow school mates who had competed in various categories held and for the individual top prizes. Some of these categories included Lagu Rakyat, Penulisan Kreatif and uniquely Rap Bahasa!

And BBE MAEC would like to congratulate Princess Elizabeth Primary School as well as Lianhua Primary School for emerging champions and runners-up respectively for the year 2012!

Also many thanks goes out to all participants and supporters from the following schools, who took great efforts to make the day a colourful one for everyone:

Lunch Session with Grassroots Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob - 8 July 2012 Sunday


It was an opportunity for the residents and council members of Southaven II to have a Lunch Session with Grassroots Adviser Mdm Halimah on 8 July 2012.

Health Promotion Board (HPB) was invited to share with the residents on cooking Brown Rice Bee Hoon with Chicken.

After the cooking demostration, the residents shared their concerns with Mdm Halimah, the LTA and NEA representatives at the intended dialogue session and Mdm Halimah was so sincere to extend her care and concern to them.

The residents and council members had a closer interaction with our Grassroots Adviser after this gathering and they welcome her back in the near future.

Breakfast Session with Grassroots Advisor Mdm Halimah Yacob - 14 July 2012 Saturday




Despite the heavy rain on 14 July 2012 morning, more than 30 residents attended the Breakfast Session @ Sherwood Condominium with Mdm Halimah Yacob.

The council members and residents welcomed Mdm Halimah and shared their concerns with her.

LTA representative was also present to address the issues concerned.

The residents and council members have a closer interaction with our Grassroots Adviser after this gathering and they welcome her back in the near future.

High Tea Session at Selanting Green with Grassroots Adviser - 15 July 2012



Residents of the 8 condominiums (Selanting Green, Charisma View, Grand Regency, Palm Residence, Royal Court, Grand Chateau, Regis Mainsion, Patent Place) along Jalan Selanting and Jalan Rajawali gathered at Selanting Green on 15 July 2012 for a high tea session with Mdm Halimah Yacob.

The residents welcomed her warmly and shared their concerns with her. LTA and NEA representatives were also there to address the resident’s concerns.

Mdm Halimah was so sincere to extend her care and concern to the residents.

The residents have an enjoyable afternoon and they welcome her back in the near future.

Senior Citizens' Health & Happiness Night - 22 July 2012 Sunday





Many seniors came to join in the evening of entertainment of songs, skits and fun games specially brought in by Health Promotion Board. Besides enjoying an evening snack of burger, they also tried the HPB games which test their memory and health knowledge.

They were very spontaneous throughout the night and were enthralled by the very last artiste who brought the house down with his gigs. It almost feel like a concert!!!

BBE NVRC Fire Prevention & Residents' Block Party - 15 July 2012 Sunday




Bukit Batok East Nature View RC organized a Fire Prevention and Residents’ Block Party on 15 July 2012 morning. We would like to thank the 150 residents from Block 288F who attended the event at the Multipurpose Hall (Block 288J) over breakfast. The event was also strongly supported by the following agencies : Health Promotion Board (HPB), National Environment Agency (NEA), the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) together with Jurong Town Council. Education booths were set up and manned by their officers sharing the tips on fire and crime prevention and informative brochures/gifts were also given out. HPB also raised awareness amongst residents in making healthier meal choices with creative food models, During the event, the SCDF through our Grassroots Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob presented the Public Spiritedness Award to 6 individuals for their kind acts shown during the fire outbreak in Block 288F on 19thApril 2012. Lastly, Mdm Halimah also shared the importance of residents working closely with the RC and relevant agencies to make this estate a safer and harmonious home to all residents.

4TH YUSOF ISHAK STUDENT CONFERENCE WITH GRASSROOTS ADVISER




Mdm Halimah attended the Student Conference and shared with the students at Yusok Ishak Secondary School on 13 July, Friday. The theme for the forum is “Nurturing All Round Talents for the 21st Century”. The dialogue session brought in new perspectives, ideas and experiences to all the participants.

BBE Community Sport Club won Sliver in 2011 CSC Awards Presentation Ceremony



The hardwork and the painstaking has paid off . The Bukit Batok East CSC have won Silver award for this year CSC Awards Presentation which was held at Singapore Expo on 14 July 2012.
Mr Andrew Lim Peng Joo, PBM received the Silver Award from Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for the Community Development, Youth and Sports and Minister of State, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

Another Champion for Bukit Batok East CSC



With the last of the Final Community Game (CG) – Football (men’s 11-A side ) coming to an end @ Yusof Ishak Secondary School draw the curtain to an end of the Community Games at Jurong Cluster. The Bukit Batok East has won the last piece of the Champion trophy . In total , the Bukit Batok East CSC have won a total of 7 Champions with 4 out of the 7 in the Community Games.

They are Netball Champion, Bowling Champion , Football (5-A Side Women) Champion, Football (5-A Side Master) Champion, Sepak takraw (Men’s Open) Champion, Sepak Takraw (Junior) Champion and Football (Men 11-A side) Champion.

The Jurong Champions will be competing with the other champions in other cluster in the coming Singapore National Games 2012. Cheers to Bukit Batok East CSC, Cheers to Jurong Cluster.

Zone 2 Fruits Fiesta - 7 July 2012 Saturday



Bukit Batok East Zone 2 RC organised a splendid Fruits Fiesta for more than 100 residents on Saturday 7 July 2012.
It was full house at Blk 248 as residents came with their families & friends, enjoying the music and feasting on the fruit galore of yummy durians, mangosteens and rambutans!
Zone 2 RC’s grassroots leaders were happy to serve the crowd and opened the array of durians with much gusto and pride.
A big THANK YOU to all the residents who came and gave their support to Zone 2, and we hope all neighbours, families and friends enjoyed the event as much as we did!

BBE National Day Family Painting Contest - 08 July 2012 Sunday





To promote community art to the heartland, Bukit Batok East Community Art and Cultural Committee, together with the Family Life Champion, organised their very first family art event , titled " National Day Family Painting Contest" on 8 July 2012 at Bukit Batok East CC.

Teams are formed by family members from at least 2 generation, they are to paint an art piece within the given time related to the theme " Celebrate National Day ". A total of 31 families participated in this meaningful contest.

Participants find this contest very meaningful as it not only promotes community art , but it also bonds the family.
